ABOUT US

VISION

·     Cultural Bridge believes that without food nothing can move forward. We have visited schools and communities and witnessed a great need for food; which is why food provision is one of our main focuses. We are currently developing a project that will allow us to build a large kitchen which will in turn give the communities and their schools access to healthy food.

·        Cultural Bridge is also planning to build a school so that children living in poverty will be afforded free quality education.

·        Cultural Bridge plans to build playgrounds for children and provide sports facilities for at-risk youth.

·       Creating job opportunities is another key vision for Cultural Bridge. We hope to see community members involved in working in the kitchen, school etc. Through this opportunity they will be able to acquire many skills and earn a living wage.

·        We are dedicated to finding financial sponsors for children’s education through both long term and short-term donors.

·       Cultural Bridge has a vision and desire to build a strong connection between the global West and Africa. Furthermore, we believe that these connections will spread over time across the globe.

·        Cultural Bridge hopes to make headway on a medical facility in the near future.

·        Cultural Bridge is also planning on building a home away from home, where the volunteers can stay during their outreaches to Africa.

FOUNDERS

We met in Herrnhut, Germany. We were both working with YWAM there. Our matching visions and plans made us became very good friends. After getting married in 2010 we went to live in Kenya and later came to Switzerland where we are now settled. We have two beautiful daughters. We are both equally founders of Cultural Bridge – Simba Verein.

Philip OPERE

I grew up in Mombasa, coastal part of Kenya. Life was not easy for my family. I was in and out of school because my parents could not afford education, We did not have enough food at home, there are many times we only had one meal in a day.  This was painful and very hard for me.  And i kept on telling myself that one day when i grow up i will make sure i help the kids in the same situation especial with food problems.

Every time i go back to my hometown from Switzerland and give food to the needy, i look at their faces and i know exactly what they feel. I know that it is something they will not forget for a very long time, I know that it something they will want to do when they grow up. It reminds me of my childhood and my dream to help. It just melts my heart every time i spend time with the needy.

I started providing food to the needy many years ago and always wanted to be a part of an official organization which does that. I am very happy to be part of Cultural bridge.

I am very happy of what we are doing and i will give everything to make sure the needy kids have something to put in their stomachs.

Join us in making lives better.

MYRIAM OPERE

I grew up in Switzerland, but my desire was always to travel and meet people from other cultures. After I finished my apprenticeship, I joined the Humanitarian Help Organization and traveled to different places around Asia, Africa and North America. In that time, I met my husband in Germany who was also working for the same Organization. We traveled together to Kenya and I just loved the country, the people, the culture and the food. Since I was a child my heart’s desire was to help the poor and people who are less fortunate. After many years and more than 10 trips to Kenya my dream finally became reality with this project.I am very happy to be a part of Cultural Bridge.

TEAM MEMBERS

Through my daughters I got to travel to the continent of Africa and I saw a great need for food, education and medical aid in many communities. That experience has stuck in my mind and heart to this day. And it is my desire is to change something there and make a positive impact. I excited and ready to walk in this adventure with Cultural Bridge.

When I first traveled to Kenya, I immediately felt at home. And when I travelled there the second and third time I still felt at home and it is the same feeling I have today. During my time there, I saw a lot of hardship. My goal is to try my best to do something about it. Go Cultural Bridge!

Jonathan, Switzerland

At first things/plans were abit complicated for me. Plans were so random and kept on changing and I felt like I did not have enough time to prepare myself. But later I got used to it and I actually started enjoying it. I loved every bit. I will miss the food, people and the weather.
